Explore a self-service concept still in development, including location, operator responsibilities, bookings, payments and requirements for device use.
IRELT self-service stations are being planned for locations such as gyms and shopping centres. The operating arrangements and product suitability will be confirmed before implementation.
The self-service point is a developing concept, not an operating service model. Planning could begin with a proposed space in a gym or shopping centre. Define who would run it, its opening hours and how customers would get help. Assess privacy, access and maintenance arrangements. Device suitability, guidance and supervision requirements must be established before implementation; self-service does not automatically mean unsupervised use.
Walk through the booking process first
Sketch the customer journey from finding a slot to leaving, including moments when someone would need help. Consider cancellations, failed payments and interrupted sessions. Identify who would resolve each situation and prevent bookings while a point is unavailable. Use this work to define booking and payment requirements and the scope of any possible trial. Procedures, responsibilities and device suitability still need to be confirmed.
Three questions to get started
01
Who?
Who would use the service, and how would they discover it?
02
Where?
What space is available, and how does it fit into the customer journey?
03
How?
Who will handle user guidance, bookings and daily upkeep?
